The Goodbye Kiss

The Goodbye Kiss is Jacky Cheung's fifth Mandopop album, which was released on March 5, 1993.

The Mandopop album was a great success in the Greater China region. In Taiwan, 1.36 million copies sold^[1]，and the total number of population was only 19 million in Taiwan at that time. For too much Pirated compact discs in Mainland China, the number of sales could not be exactly statistics. The influence of the Goodbye Kiss in China more than any previous popular music. From the early 1994, Hong Kong's popular music worship a historic high point in Mainland China. The Goodbye Kiss have sold 600,000 in Singapore and it was also breaking the record at local. “The Goodbye Kiss” with an astounding 4 million sold in Asia in 1993 alone, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Japan etc^[2].

In 2004, Michael Learns to Rock recorded a single "Take Me To Your Heart" which was a remake of Jacky Cheung's "Goodbye Kiss. On the other hand, Jay Chou, Anson Hu, Justin Lo had use the single- "Goodbye Kiss" and Jacky Cheung's name written into their own works.
